School Snacks for Children
When we were kids, a snack after school was a bowl of sweet cereal with milk, cakes, or for healthier choices, sweet yogurt with fruit. Watch the trends ... all of this is full of sugar! As we become more aware of the impact of sugar on our children, it becomes more popular to choose healthy and even keto-friendly snacks for children.

Snacks That Children Can Make
We love cooking with children! Here are some easy recipe ideas that they can help with. Depending on your child's age, you might need to slice vegetables, or if they are old enough to use a knife, be sure to watch over them.

  • Celery is filled with cream cheese or almond butter
  • Raw vegetables (like paprika, celery, broccoli) with ranch sauce
  • Cucumber and cheese sandwich

Is it Popcorn Keto?
Because this is a very popular snack, we want to talk about popcorn! We don't like to consider any food that is strictly forbidden in the keto diet; rather, it's all about adjusting nutrient-dense foods into your daily meal plan. Corn is a grain, and it's important to note that it's relatively high in carbohydrates. According to the USDA National Nutrient Database, 1 cup of popcorn contains 31 calories, 1.04g protein, 0.36g fat, 6.22g carbohydrates, and 1.2g fiber. That brings us to about 5 g of clean carbohydrates per 1 cup of serving, but in reality, how satisfying is 1 cup of popcorn? But if it's important to you and fits into your meal plan, go ahead and enjoy it.

Is it Keto Hot Dog?
In general, hot dogs are something that we consider to be food and not part of our normal eating habits. This is because hot dogs are highly processed and contain lots of nitrates and/or nitrites and are high in sodium. That being said, sometimes you just want a great dog! On that occasion, we chose organic hot dogs without preserves (Applegate Farms are our favorite).

In terms of the ketogenic lifestyle, if you are going to eat hot dogs, look at the macro to make sure you can include it in your daily meal plan. You might be surprised that many hot dogs are high in carbohydrates because of added substances!
