My family and I like to go picking apples in our local garden in the fall. This is an exciting day where we pick our apples, get mom to the yard, snack donut cider, and corn kettle and finally look for the perfect pumpkin to be carved at the end of the month.

I like tasting different varieties of apples, but I tend to choose McIntosh or Honeycrisp because they are always natural sweet and are good for eating and baking.

I recently bought a bag of McIntosh apples at my local farmers market because I wanted to experiment with homemade apple chips and we didn't dare go out to get them myself.

HOW DO YOU MAKE APPLE CLIPS?
I don't know why I need this time, because this is probably the easiest recipe you can make. All you have to do is apple core, cut it into a circle, stir with cinnamon and sugar; then roast.

The only warning is that it must be cooked for several hours to allow the apple to become dehydrated in the oven. Let me tell you, Cinnamon Apple Chips really are worth the wait!

My youngest daughter has a friend and they devoured them in a short time. I did tell him to leave some for his father to try, but he only had 3 chips so I guess I should make this again soon.
Apple chips are a delicious and healthy snack that is naturally gluten-free and you don't need to worry about your kids drinking too much.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Apple McIntosh, remove the core and slices 1/8 ”thick
  • 2 tsp. Cinnamon Ground
  • 1 tsp. Granulated Sugar, if desired
  • Cooking spray

  2. Add the sliced apples to a large bowl; then coat the apple with cinnamon and/or sugar.
  3. Spray the pan with cooking spray and straighten the apples on the pan. You might need to use two pans so they don't overlap.
